The Silver Dollar Bar & Grill has operated inside the Wort Hotel at 50 North Glenwood Street since 1950, and its defining feature is literally embedded in the room: the long bar top is inlaid with real silver dollars, running the length of the space. Streetside windows look directly onto downtown Jackson, making it one of the better people-watching bars in town, and the interior mixes a curved bar with leather booths. The Silver Dollar Showroom next door functions as what the hotel calls Jackson's premier downtown music venue, booking local and regional bands.

On the food side, the Grill serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while the Bar serves food from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and stays open until 11 p.m. nightly; after 6 p.m. the bar is 21-and-over only. The kitchen's known for its corn chowder — called out as a house specialty — along with burgers and elk gyros. There's a lunch soup-and-sandwich combo priced at $9 for a half sandwich or $12 for a whole one. Weekly specials add structure to the calendar: Margarita Monday, Whiskey & Wine Wednesday, a daily happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m., and a Sunday prime rib special. The Grill takes reservations through Resy or by phone, but the Bar itself is first-come, first-served — no reservations, no way to hold a stool at that famous silver-dollar counter. Between the historic hotel setting, the specific 1950 founding date, and a menu that still centers on chowder and burgers rather than anything trend-driven, it reads as a genuine long-running Jackson institution rather than a themed re-creation of one.
