The Mural Room sits inside Jackson Lake Lodge, the sprawling 1950s lodge built by John D. Rockefeller Jr. that looks out over Willow Flats toward the Teton Range, and the restaurant's defining feature is literally on the walls: ten murals painted by mid-20th-century American artist Carl Roters depicting the 1837 fur trappers' rendezvous, ringing the dining room above the windows. Tables face the mountains, so the view competes with the artwork for attention, especially at breakfast and dinner when the light hits the peaks directly. The kitchen describes its approach as hearty Rocky Mountain cuisine built on regionally sourced ingredients — local beef, wild game, and sustainable seafood prepared in-house, with bread and pastries baked from scratch daily and a majority of the produce coming from area farms. Because this is a Grand Teton Lodge Company property inside Grand Teton National Park, it operates on a summer season tied to the park's operating calendar, and dinner reservations are recommended through OpenTable. It's a lodge dining room in the fullest sense — big, formal-ish, built for travelers who've spent the day in the park and want a proper sit-down meal with a view before the light fades over the valley.
